We interviewed the lovely Emma Rae, founder of In His Name Co and we could not help but share! Enjoy her responses and give her a follow! @inhisnameco
Q: What is your mission on your platform of blogging, painting, and art?
A: To Glorify God in all that I do. The platform the Lord has blessed me with was founded on Colossians 3:17, “Whatever you do, in word or in deed, do it in the Name of Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.” I believe the Lord gave us all unique talents & passions that are to be used In His Name. So for me whether I’m painting, designing, or simply sharing my story, I do it all in the name of Jesus for His glory!
Q: What was the biggest or most prominent issue in your college/young adult season?
A: Self image/comparison for sure! Especially nowadays where we are bombarded with keeping up with the latest trends & having the “perfect” social media aesthetic. It’s all so exhausting. I used to care a lot about those things, but I have learned it’s so freeing to let that go & rest in my true identity that is found in Christ. My identity in Him will never change, never waver, & never leave me feeling like I’m not enough.
Q: What advice do you wish you got or what encouragement would you give someone going through your most prominent issue in college?
A: As hard as is it in the moment, just don’t listen to the opinions of others and the lies we tell ourself. Most of the time, we are brought down by the assumed opinions of others when no one is actually saying the things we have running through our head!! For example, I have a bone condition where my wrist are a bit crooked. My whole adolescence and young adult life I was convinced that people thought I looked weird or that they would call me mean names. And guess what? My whole adult life no one ever did! No one even batted an eye or gave a second glance to what made me a little bit different. Most of the time, we are way too hard on ourselves. One thing I would stress to my young self is to LET. IT. GO. These things are silly in comparison to the many ways God wants to use my life for His glory. It took me realizing that and getting out of my own way to finally feel free from the burdens I was carrying for far too long. I encourage you to do that too! You’ll feel so free!!
Q: What is one thing you wish you could say to 19-20 year old you?
A: Enjoy right where God has you. I rushed my college years because I was so ready to be a “real adult” & get married and start my career. I’m a dreamer so I’m always looking ahead to what’s next! But, I wish I wouldn’t have rushed that season so much just to move on to the next big thing. My time at college was some of the best years of my life where I made my lifelong friends and truly flourished. My advice: go on spontaneous trips with your best friends, enjoy the little things that bring you joy, savor the freedom you have—this season will be gone before you know it, so embrace it!
